SPORTS CITY APARTMENTS, MANCHESTER - 2005
Another successful phase has been completed for the urban regeneration of East Manchester,
under the shadow of “City of Manchester Stadium”. Full automatic smoke ventilation
systems have been installed in the apartment blocks. Included were 1000mm chain
actuators opening curtain walling vents and 700mm chain actuators opening double
leaf roof hatches. Multi-zone control panels interfaced with the building’s addressable
fire alarm system. |

BISHOPS SQUARE, LONDON
Bishops Square provides 70000 sq m of office and retail space for shops, cafés and
restaurants. The glass facades and glass roof tested the demands of drive technology.
The 66 smoke vents in the roof measuring 300cm x 175cm weigh up to 343kg, providing a
1m opening. Dyer installed two syncronised Duplex Rack & Pinion drives to the sides of
the windows. This new drive makes it possible to open extremely large and very heavy
windows and shutters without jamming or breaking the glass. The Duplex Drive DXD is also
available in a high-speed version. |
